Excursion: Boundary Waters
Who: Girls entering 8th grade at time of travel
With pristine water, clean air, plentiful wildlife (eagles, loons, moose, black bears), and hundreds of miles of lakes to paddle and portages to hike across, it is a paddler’s paradise. This trip will be led by trained guides from Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines and our experienced outdoor staff and adult volunteers. Get ready for an adventure of a lifetime!The group will leave from the GSKSMO parking lot and travel to the canoe base camp in Ely, MN, stopping overnight in Duluth, MN. The trip includes 2 days of driving and 6 days in the Minnesotan wilderness, 5 of which will be spent in canoes.
Overnights in Duluth, MN is at a Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines private cabin. All remaining overnights will be tent camping. All gear except a sleeping bag is provided.
Please note: previous canoeing experience is not required but strongly encouraged.
