The Combat Air Museum and the Museum of the Kansas National Guard, both at Topeka Regional Airport, are excited to host host our fourth annual Girls in Aviation Day. This hands on STEM day provides the opportunity for Girl Scouts to meet female pilots, visit aircraft, learn principles of flight, and find out about careers in aviation in both the military and civilian sectors.  The day will begin at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard with juice & cookies at 8 a.m.  Programming will begin at 9 a.m. with presentations by civilian and military pilots, hands-on experiments with STARBASE staff on electrical circuits and tours of the Museum and aircraft.  At 11 a.m. Girl Scouts will travel with sponsors to the Combat Air Museum (1/2 mile) to eat lunches, tour civilian and military aircraft and a hot air balloon, meet women who fly, repair aircraft or work in other aviation occupations, experience being an air traffic controller, tour the Combat Air Museum and take a flight in our flight simulator.  Most activities will be different than previous years so return attendees are encouraged!  Girls will receive an Aviation Fun Patch.

This year the Lawrence Chapter of The Ninety Nines will again be participating. The Ninety-Nines is the international organization of women pilots that promotes advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support while honoring our unique history and sharing our passion for flight.
