Providing Hope Workshop
Help create sock kits for the summer season to provide a new, dry pair of socks and other essentials to our homeless friends, and learn simple ways to engage the homeless in your community. Participants will be asked to bring 2 items for the kits, and everything else is provided with your class fee.
You may either leave your sock kit and ScrapsKC will distribute them to the homeless in downtown KCMO, or we encourage anyone who is comfortable to take their kit with them and hand it out themself. Dry socks are crucial when you live outside, and other essentials included can prevent serious health risks. We'll also repurpose plastic grocery bags for weaving and crocheting into mats for the homeless.
Each participant is asked to bring 1 tube of chapstick and 1 travel size bottle of hand sanitizer. Everyone will be required to wear a mask in accordance with KCMO ordinances, and participants will be distanced for safety precautions in regards to COVID-19.
COVID-19 safety precautions:
- All participants must wear a mask
- Rooms will be cleaned between groups, including tables and high-touch surfaces
- Please note there is a maximum registration of 12 girls per session for this event
- Spacing requirements as outlined by KCMO ordinances are followed
- Hand sanitizer is made available before and throughout the workshop
Additional Info: This workshop is offered three times on May 29. There is a maximum of 12 girls per session.
