Make It Happen Conference 2022

The conference is an all-day event with two separate tracks based on age. One track is designed specifically for high school girls and one track for middle schoolers. Throughout the day, the participants will have the opportunity to connect with each other, college students, and industry professionals in the fields they are interested in. We have designed workshops that will inspire and encourage young girls to learn and get excited about STEM fields such as programming, design, and engineering.

Breakfast, lunch, and t-shirts are provided, plus a swag bag!

Agenda:
9:30 check in and breakfast
10:00 Introductions and hear from speaker, Beth Ellyn McClendon
10:30 Big Group Activities: High School girls will attend a College Panel & Middle School girls will attend an Engineering Tour
11:00 High School: Engineering Tours, Middle School: Activity
12:00 lunch
1:00 and 2:00 Breakout Sessions (choose 2):

Middle Schoolers choose:

  1. Girlcode with WIC: learn Python coding
  2. STEM and Sisterhood: have fun with our Women in Technical Studies Sorority with a fun activity
  3. Activity with SELF: Build Projects and think about engineering and teamwork with us!

High Schoolers choose:

  1. Industry Panel: Learn from industry professionals in the area about what it is like to actually work in an engineering profession
  2. Financial Aid & Scholarship Q&A
  3. Activity with SWE: Participate in a hands-on activity hosted by KU’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers!

If you can’t stay all day, please email to let them know when you plan to attend.

Please be a sister to our Girl Scout partners. Our partners invest staff and financial resources to provide unique Girl Scout programming at no cost to our girls and their families/troops. This is one of those special opportunities. In order for our partners to continue offering low-cost and free programming to Girl Scouts, please notify them as soon as possible if you can no longer attend.
