Come earn your Equestrian Badge and learn all about horses while riding the trails at Hillsdale Lake. We have gentle, experienced trail horses perfect for first time riders and lots of fun for the more experienced rider, too.

Trail Ride or Arena Event

    Brownie     Junior     Cadette     Senior     Ambassador    

We offer a one- or two-hour trail ride through the beautiful tree lined trails at Hillsdale Lake.  Beautiful trails with lake views!  Several trails to choose from to accommodate all time lengths and skill levels. You will learn about horse safety and horse care, develop your riding skills and enjoy a guided trail ride.

Arena event is a one-hour program for up to 10 riders at a time.  Participants learn to maneuver their horses through obstacles such as cones, ground poles, and barrels building riding skills.  We also play games by horseback towards the end of the program for a fun learning experience!

Additional Information: We provide helmets, saddles, all equipment needed while on the horse. There is a Liability Waiver to complete (received at time of booking).

What to wear: Long pants (no capri pants or shorts) and either tennis shoes or boots (nothing with an open toe or an open heel).  Dress for the weather, bring gloves and wear socks if it is cool.  We provide riding helmets.  

Cost: $60 per person for a one-hour guided trail ride. $110 per person for a two-hour guided trail ride for second year riders.

Horseback Riding Badge Program

    Junior 

To be done along with the Horseback Trail Riding or Arena Event.  Participants learn basic horse safety while working with horses on the ground. They learn how to brush and groom a horse, how to pick their feet, how to lead a horse safely, basic nutrition such as feeding and watering, what is involved with owning a horse, and scooping poop! 

Cost: $15 per girl (in addition to the cost for the Trail Ride or Arena Event)

Primitive Camping

    Brownie     Junior     Cadette     Senior     Ambassador 

Primitive camping is available when you schedule a horseback ride. Picnic tables, fire ring, cooking grate, firewood available at tree shaded campsite.  Potable water hydrant close as well as restrooms with running water/shower house.  Porta-Potty also available.  Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Heritage Girl Groups, Church Groups are all that camp at this facility and the owners live on site also to help make for a safe camping experience.! Public trails available for hiking and public swimming area is close at Hillsdale Lake.

Cost per person: One night camping is free with horseback riding.  Additional nights available at $5 per person per night.
