L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery School

As part of their mission to our customers, L.L.Bean provides outdoor experiences designed to help people learn, try, buy and then enjoy their outdoor products, helping them get the most from their purchase. Throughout the year, they offer the following programs designed to help introduce and educate on an outdoor product or topic of interest.

These include:

  • In-store clinics, covering a wide range of subjects, from Leave No Trace Camping to Stargazing and Constellations to the Essentials for Kayak or Paddle Boarding.
  • Weekend demonstrations on How to Select Lighting or Cook Sets for camping to How to Pick a PFD.

  • Guest speakers covering a wide range of topics of local and regional interest.

  • Outings design to introduce one to an activity or local area, such as hiking a local park or trail.

  • Summer kayak and paddle board instruction for the novice paddle sport enthusiast.

  • Custom programming to meet unique needs.

  • We also host community service projects at local parks and waterways, such as cleanups or trail management, to help pay back and support the resources that give us the best outdoor experiences.

Registration Requirements:  All girls participating as a Girl Scout in this activity must be registered Girl Scout members. If attending as a troop, all volunteers also need to be registered members and/or have completed and approved background checks. If non-registered individuals (adults or tags) are allowed to participate in this activity supplemental insurance is required.
