Animal Wonders

Animal Wonders offers educational conservation, ecology, and animal programs to enhance appreciation and understanding of the natural world.

Location: We come to you! Facilitators will come to a location of your choice.

Cost Per Girl: $12 
Cost Per Adult: N/A

Additional Information:

  • There is an 8 girls minimum for workshops.
  • Animal Wonders will not charge a travel charge for events scheduled within a 50 mile radius of Holden, Missouri.  A $1 per mile charge will added to the program fee after 50 miles (example: if your location is 63 miles from the Animal Wonders office, your travel charge will be $13.).
  • Cost includes a program with lots of live animals, exciting work that applies directly toward accomplishing the journey or badge you select.
  • Please note that an invoice will be provided prior to the workshop and payment is expected on the day of.
  • Covid precautions: Masking as districts or municipalities require it.

Water Badge*

 Ambassador

The girls will get to do hands on experiments with a watershed showing the importance of wetlands as well the effects of pollution in our waterways. A mock oil spill will show the girls the perils for wildlife to survive when one occurs and how difficult it is to clean the animals. Live animals from various water ecosystems will be presented for the girls to view.

Outcomes: Develops a strong sense of self. Displays positive values. Seeks challenges and learns from setbacks. Learns to identify and solve problems in her community.

Bugs Badge*

 Brownie

Animal Wonders will teach the girls how to identify the major groups of arthropods, their diets, life cycles, how to create a captive habitat and care for them.  Girls will get to see live examples of exotic and native insects and arachnids.

Pets Badge*

 Brownie 

Animal Wonders can provide you with the best options on choosing a pet & how to care for your new feathered, scaly, or slimy friend. Live animals will be shown to the girls. Non-traditional pets can be so much fun and rewarding, but which ones are the best to own? Which should be avoided? How do we care for them? Animal Wonders can provide you with the best options on choosing a pet & how to care for your new feathered, scaly, or slimy friend. Live animals will be shown to the girls.

Outdoor Adventurer Badge*

 Brownie

Animal Wonders will lead your troop on a nature hike at a location of your choice. We will provide field guides and checklists to keep track of the wildlife we observe. All bird sightings will be logged into the citizen science program, eBird and leaders/parents will be provided a link to see the achievements of the hike.

Outcomes:  Develops a strong sense of self.

Animal Wonders will bring a variety of animals to visit your troop. We will discuss their wild habits, how to protect their habitats, and other ways to help nature.

3 Cheers for Animals Journey*

 Daisy

The girls will get a chance to meet with our animals and staff to learn about how we care for the animals, learn about the native habitats & ranges of the animals, and how several of the species presented have benefited humans.

Animal Wonders will lead your troop on a nature hike or outing in an area of your choice. We will bring a variety of field guides and materials to help the scouts identify and learn about the wildlife they encounter.

Voice for Animals Badge*

 Senior

Since nearly all of our animals are surrenders or rescues, we teach the girls to make informed decisions in animal ownership. We will show them live success stories and teach them how to take action with conservation groups.

Using a variety of live animals, we will teach the girls about where each species is found naturally, their diets, their classification, problems facing them in the wild, do they make good pets, and what they can do to help animals around the world.
