Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC)

For more than 20 years, CHWC has been transforming vacant lots and blighted properties into thriving neighborhoods where families are happy to live, work and play. The mission of CHWC is to stabilize, revitalize, and reinvest in communities through improved housing and other related developments, such as arts and health initiatives to create beautiful, healthy public spaces where neighbors can gather together. 

Registration Requirements: All girls participating as a Girl Scout in these activities must be registered Girl Scout members. If attending as a troop, all volunteers also need to be registered members and/or have completed and approved background checks. If non-registered individuals (adults or tags) are allowed to participate in this activity supplemental insurance is required. Use the Insurance Purchase Form to purchase insurance at least 3 weeks prior to the event. Completed forms can be emailed to



Grow with us at Splitlog Farm! 

 All Levels 

Splitlog Farm and Orchard is a unique urban farm that grows more than 1,600 pounds of produce every year on just 1/3 of an acre of land. Help us plant, manage and harvest healthy food that is provided to the elementary school located across the street and nearby families in surrounding neighborhoods. You’ll learn about what crops grow well in our area, when they are planted and how to tend the plants as they grow, all while taking care of our environment and encouraging healthy eating.

How to Register: Troop leaders should fill out our online volunteer form. A CHWC staff person will contact you to confirm the time your troop would like to volunteer and provide details.

EPIC Clay Studio

 All Levels 

Location: Reach KCK, 2215 Parallel Ave, Kansas City, KS 66104

Cost per person: $10

EPIC Clay Studio provides the youth of the community opportunities to experience dynamic arts and culture programs that foster community, emotional intelligence and healthy relationships. Learn how to work with clay and have fun creating your own birdhouse, wind chimes or pottery using a wheel.

Additional Info: A minimum of five participants per class is requested to schedule a workshop. Troop Leaders and registered adult volunteers who are supervising only do not need to pay the registration fee.
