There are a lot of garden centers and agritourism sites out there. Some may share attributes with us, but we feel that we have three things that make us one of a kind!

Colonial Kids Club

Each month Colonial Gardens offers a Kids Club event. This event has a wide range of activities that inspire kids to explore the world around them. 

For one hour, kids could do physical activities on the playground or our community room, pick berries, meet the farm animals, and more! Kids will also typically have a takeaway item as part of the event. Recommended age is 4-12. Fees only need to be paid for the children attending, not for adults.

Colonial Livestock Farm: Weekly Life on the Farm Tour

Have you ever wanted to see what life was like on a farm? Stop by Colonial Farms every Wednesday at 5:30 for a private tour of our livestock farm! Great for families and friends!

The tour includes a general overview of the livestock farm with the opportunity for seasonal added activities. For example, you could collect eggs, feed the chicken, hug an alpaca, or hold a baby goat!

Take a selfie with our animals or of you working on the farm! Post them to your social media and be sure to tag Colonial Gardens!

After the tour, enjoy food and live music at our weekly In the Garden event!

This tour will last approximately 30-45 minutes. Because it is outdoors, please be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty. For safety reasons do not wear open-toed shoes.

Learning Garden Program

The Colonial Garden Learning Garden program aims to bring the garden to you. A kit is purchased for $24.99 which includes 7-gallons of soil, a 7-gallon pot, three types of seeds, a granular fertilizer (all to be picked up on site), as well as access to online instructional videos.

These 12 instructional videos offer different topics for kids to learn about including environmental ecology, plant biology, and many more! There is one 7-minute video per week for the 12-week program. Kids get to watch their own gardens grow while learning how to care for them and the world around them. Fun activity for families!

Farm Fest

 All Levels

When: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays every weekend in October. 10am–4pm (2 hour ticketed time slots)

Come see what life is like on a working farm. Learn about our livestock, orchard, and pumpkin growing while snacking on some kettle corn or old-fashioned sarsaparilla. We will have lots of fun games and activities throughout the grounds at Colonial Gardens

Additional Info: We require masks to be worn inside our building

Cost per Person: $10 ticket for 2-hour entry into our three areas for Farm Fest. Ticket includes one hayride, one ride on our mulch slide, one turn on the ground pillow, one try at modified apple bobbing (tied to string), and one burlap sack race.

Field Trips

 All Levels

Come take an extensive tour of all Colonial Gardens has to offer! Our field trip package includes your choice of two tour areas (approx. 1 hour) and access to our playground (approx. 1 hour). Additional areas can be added for $2 per area, per attendee.

There are 5 areas to choose from: the livestock farm, the berry patch, the orchard, the vegetable greenhouse, and the retail greenhouse. The topics discussed in each of these areas can be customized based on your group’s interest. For example, when an ecology class attended, we talked about the different ways Colonial helps the environment.

There is an 8 child or $60 minimum for each group. We also ask that there is an 8:1 ratio of children to adults.
