Giving Parade Collection Drive

Please help provided needed supplies for the animals in our care. Visit the Helping Hands Humane Society website to view our wish list. We are in particular need of the following items:

  • Liquid High Efficiency laundry detergent
  • Gardening soil (for pet enrichment like cat grass and herbs that one of our volunteers grows)
  • Wand-type cat toys and kicker cat toys (big enough that cats can grab onto them and kick with their back feet)
  • Soft dog treats (already in small pieces or easy to break into small pieces…we have PLENTY of milk bones so don’t need more of those)
  • Catnip
  • KONG stuffer spray
  • KONG dog toys
  • Disinfectant bleach
  • Tape and tape dispensers
  • 3-hole punches
  • Canned chicken for cat enrichment
  • Tough rubber chew toys for dogs
  • Cat scratchers
  • Comfort Zone cat calming products
  • Brooms, hand brooms, and dust pans
  • Febreze Pet Odor Defense air fresheners/Lysol pet odor eliminator
  • Any pet odor/stain remover products

Additional info: Items should be dropped off at Harvesters-Topeka during the Giving Parade on November 5.

Understanding Pets

 Daisy

Daisy’s will learn how to “read” animals and begin to understand what their pets are trying to say to them. We will also go over how to properly give and show love to animals in a way that works well for those animals.

Pets and Animal Welfare

 Brownie   Cadette 

Time: Tuesdays through Saturday between 11:30 a.m. -6 p.m.

Girl Scouts will participate in a Zoom meeting with Helping Hands Humane Society where they will learn about caring for pets and/or animal welfare and complete one or two steps towards their Pets or Animal Welfare badge. Girls will also have the opportunity to complete a volunteer activity from home for the shelter animals.
