KC Zine Con

Zines are self-published DIY publications, typically personalized with art and drawings and then reproduced on a copy machine in order to get one’s ideas and voice out into the world in an affordable, accessible way. They encourage voice, creativity, and the sharing of people’s knowledge and experiences.

Zine Making

 All Levels

We want to bring zine-making to your troop! Zines are awesome, because they work across all program levels. Girl Scouts of any age can benefit from zine-making. They are short and easy to make, reproduce, and share. They’re informal enough that young people don’t feel pressured to write perfectly, and they can learn and create at their own pace! Zines haven’t always been very accessible to kids, and KCZC is looking to change that. Girls can learn to express themselves, share their stories and ideas, and make their voice heard. Zines can be about anything, and everything! They can work alongside many badges and journeys, or they can be taught on their own. We’d love to bring zine-making to you and your Girl Scouts!
