LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Kansas City & SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium

SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium will transport you into an amazing underwater world! Come nose to nose with sharks and prepare for astonishingly close views of everything from humble starfish, seahorses and graceful rays. To get any closer you’d have to get wet!

LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Kansas Citty offer hands-on learning across the curriculum, including science, mathematics, language arts, technology, and engineering design, while building and reinforcing collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving. Our center facilitates learning through interactive experiences to promote deeper engagement with the subject matter.

Participate in one of our educational activities to receive a free scout patch! Make a splash exploring the many different properties of sea water with our SEA LIFE education team! Upstairs at LEGOLAND Discovery Center, our cool creators are excited for you to meet our newest LEGO team member, R2-D2! Jump into exploring the basic robotics behind what makes R2-D2 come to life! Please note, scouts must participate in the full activity to be eligible to receive a patch.

Location: 2475 Grand Blvd Kansas City, MO 64108. Parking is located in the Crown Center Mall parking garages.

Registration Requirements: All girls participating as a Girl Scout in these activities must be registered Girl Scout members. If attending as a troop, all volunteers also need to be registered members and/or have completed and approved background checks. If non-registered individuals (adults or tags) are allowed to participate in this activity supplemental insurance is required. Use the Insurance Purchase Form to purchase insurance at least 3 weeks prior to the event. Completed forms can be emailed to programapprovals@gsksmo.org.

LEGOLAND® Girl Scout Educational Workshops

 Daisy   Brownie   Junior

Spinning Tops (Daisy)

In this exciting workshop Girl Scouts build LEGO® spinning tops, collect data on whose design spins the longest, while also learning about the forces that affect their tops performance.

Seasons (Daisy) 
Help your early years’ Girl Scouts learn about the seasons the hands-on way. In this workshop, girls will build and share what they know about the current season; leading to a discussion on weather changes and important seasonal activities and events.

Spin the Gears (Brownie)
Gears, gears, gears! In this workshop Girl Scouts will build a series of models and experiment with gears exploring the difference between drive vs. driven gears, clockwise vs. counterclockwise, and discovering the concepts of effort and force.

What a Great Experience! (Brownie and Junior)
Engage Girl Scouts in reading and writing through building and telling their story using LEGO bricks! In this workshop, girls will take inspiration from MINILAND and recount an experience they have had in their city, literally building their characters, setting, and plot using LEGO elements. They will also write about their experience using their model as a visual referencing tool and share their story with others.

Workshops will be scheduled in 45 minute increments.

Cost Per Girl: $7.00 per scout, $3.00 per scout for additional educational workshop, $10 per adult 
Cost Per Adult: 1 adult free for every 5 paid scouts.
 


Sea Life Girl Scout Educational Workshops

Home Sweet Home: Habitats (Daisy)
Girl Scouts will learn what is required of a habitat to make a good home for an animal. Explore the need for food, water, shelter, air, and space/territory in aquatic habitats.

Animal Adaptations: Adaptations (Daisy and Brownie)
Girl Scouts will learn how animals adapt to thrive in a watery world. Explore unique animal characteristics such as scales, fins, lateral lines of fish, and electrical reception, which can enable animals to be successful in water.

What’s for Lunch: Food Chains (Junior)
Dive into what and how sea creatures eat, along with what eats them! Explore the complexities of ocean food chains, and predator/prey relationships.

Marine Science Careers (Cadette-Ambassador)
Take a deeper look into career paths and job opportunities within the aquarium and zoo industry, and learn how having a marine science career can impact conservation and wildlife efforts.

Workshops will be scheduled in 45 minute increments.

We are no longer hosting the Overnight Experience program at SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium.
