Location: Microsoft Store at Oak Park Mall, 11149 W 95th St, Overland Park, KS 66214  

Registration Requirements:  All girls participating as a Girl Scout in this activity must be registered Girl Scout members. If attending as a troop, all volunteers also need to be registered members and/or have completed and approved background checks. If non-registered individuals (adults or tags) are allowed to participate in this activity supplemental insurance is required. Use the Insurance Purchase Form to purchase insurance at least 3 weeks prior to the event. Completed forms can be emailed to programapprovals@gsksmo.org.

Martin Luther King, Jr. “I Have a Dream” Workshop

During this week, we are honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events focused on the community, youth, and Dr. King’s Dream.

Join us at the Microsoft Store at Oak Park Mall on January 17th, 18th, and 19th where local youth will have the opportunity to create “I Have a Dream”-inspired digital paintings and photo dream boards.  These drawings will be printed & placed on display in the mall all day January 20th.

The top participants and their families along with the community will be invited back the evening of January 20th for our Community Celebration and Art Show. Selected top participants will have the opportunity to have their artwork on display at this celebration as well as to explain what Dr. King’s Dream means to them.

Are your Girl Scouts looking to work on their Technology Badges? Come out to the Microsoft Store in Oak Park mall and join us for workshops focused on the badges listed below. 

  • Brownies – Computer Expert Badge 
  • Juniors - Digital Photography
  • Cadettes – Netiquette
  • Cadettes - Public Speaking

Cost: FREE

Date/Time: Due to popularity, workshops are available Mondays and Tuesdays after school (4:30-6:30pm) throughout the year. We are willing to try and accommodate if your troop has issues with the dates and times. 

To schedule a date send an email to cheryl.lupton@microsoft.com with the number of girls, which badge your troop is working on and 3 potential dates.

Additional Information: As a courtesy, please send cancellations at least (1) week in advance

We will teach a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 20 girls per workshop.
