Money Museum at the Federal Reserve

We are so lucky to have this in KC!!! No other Federal Reserve has such an amazing tour, exhibit, and educational opportunities. The Money Museum believes individuals of all ages who understand how the economy functions and know what tools are available make better financial decisions.

Address: 1 Memorial Dr, Kansas City, MO 64108. Free parking is available in our visitor lot, which can be found on Wyandotte Street, on the west side of the property.

Girl Scouts and families are welcome to come to the museum during open hours and experience for yourself.  Tickets are free, and can be ordered here.​ There are many cool exhibits, like coin collections and gold bars. The museum currently has an exhibit called Banking on Her: The History of Women at the KC Fed as well as another virtual exhibit called Let's Put Our Money Together: The Founding of America's First Black Banks that you should definitely check out!

Budgeting Savvy


Whether you’re heading to the grocery store or planning a big trip, you must budget and shop savvy to afford it all. Scouts will practice their budgeting skills by: 

  • Pricing out a weekly grocery list.
  • Helping a “friend” use their birthday money.
  • Budgeting for school supplies. 
  • And planning a big trip to the zoo. 

By the end, they will understand the importance of price checking and budgeting to get the items you need and how to save up for the what you want. 

You will accomplish all 5 steps in the Money Manager badge. This resource will be a PowerPoint with video instructions and activities that can be done at home or during a troop meeting as you have time.

Materials Needed: Personal Device such a computer or tablet, pen or pencil, and clean paper. A printer is preferred but not required.
