Backpack Buddies is a weekend meals program for elementary students. The backpack (clear sealed bag) provides a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack for the weekend. Girl Scouts can work in our volunteer center to place juice/milk boxes, cereal, snack, canned vegetable, and an entrée in a bag. The bag then goes in a Second Harvest box for distribution to participating schools. Each week close to 4,000 bags must be constructed.

When? Monday-Friday, 52 weeks a year. Backpack packing is done September-April

Hunger 101: Be an Agent of Change!

  Junior

Second Harvest Community Food Bank invites you to Hunger 101. Let this free one-hour crash course teach you about hunger and how you can be an advocate for hunger-relief. Juniors will learn about how they can become an “Agent of Change” in their very own community. They will learn about hunger issues that some of their peers may be experiencing right now! Second Harvest staff will help girls see how they can make a difference in their community and give them guidance on if they wanted to start their very own Campus Cupboard.
