Zen Friends Yoga

Zen Friends Yoga teaches yoga poses and yoga benefits through storytelling, songs and fun. Yoga sessions are taught using visuals and props and participants leave with a handout of the yoga poses and a scented eye pillow.

Location: Troop meeting location or virtual. 

Additional info: Available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays within Johnson County limits. Outside Johnson County limits please inquire via email.

Cost per girl: Less than 5 girls = $70, 6-12 girls = $80, 13-20 girls = $100, 20+ girls = $115 (unless otherwise noted below)
Cost per adult: N/A

Daisy Petal Yoga*

 Daisy

This 45 minute yoga session will connect the creative Girl Scout Daisy Petal stories with yoga poses related to confidence, balance and focus. Girls will learn songs, play games and learn the basics of yoga. The last 10 minutes of the class, girls will make scented eye pillows they will use during their relaxation. Girls take away scented eye pillow and a PDF of the yoga poses learned. 

This activity is a great tie-in with the GSUSA Resilient. Ready. Strong. patch program.

My Best Self Yoga*

 Brownie

This 60-75 minute yoga session will follow the 5 steps of the My Best Self badge. Girls will move their bodies in different ways, play games, learn how breath and different yoga poses help their bodies be healthier, understand positive ways they can manage big feelings and learn what it is to be a yoga teacher. Girls will complete an eye pillow craft and write about ways they handle things that ‘bug’ them. All girls will take home their craft, writing activity and PDF of yoga poses learned.

Staying Fit Yoga*

 Junior

This 80-minute yoga session will complete 2 steps in the Staying Fit badge: step 3 (know how to stress less) and step 5 (help your family stay fit). Girls will practice different controlled breath techniques; some calming yoga poses and a guided meditation with information on different apps that can be used at the beginning or end of day with family members. Discussions about staying active as a family and moving away from screentime will help the girls create a Family Wellness calendar to share when they leave.

Pre-Teen/Teen Yoga*:

 Cadette   Senior   Ambassador

60 minutes of wellness time with your friends where you can focus on relaxation, body strengthening, improve your concentration, learn ways to manage stress/anxiety and have fun. Each girl will build their confidence, balance and improve their flexibility and overall body awareness and wellness. Yoga is a wonderful way to connect our mind, body and breath.

Zen Friends Yoga*

 All Levels 

Zen Friends is an opportunity for ALL kids to learn the practices of yoga in a fun, active and safe setting.

Come share 45 minutes for kids and 60 minutes for teens of wellness time with your friends and/or siblings where you can focus on relaxation, body strengthening, improve your concentration, learn ways to manage stress/anxiety and have fun. Each child will build their confidence, balance and improve their flexibility and overall body wellness. 

Materials needed: Yoga mat or towel, water

Additional info: Most saturdays from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (ages 12+) and 3:30 PM - 4:15 PM (ages 5-11)

Cost per girl: $12 drop in/ $40-4 classes/ $75-8 classes
Cost per adult: N/A
