Oral history is an important part of genealogy and local history. It connects the living to those who have gone before us and shines a light on the stories that help reveal their character. Tell Me a Story is a Mid-Continent Public Library initiative that provides the ability to record and preserve memories, stories, and living history of residents in the Kansas City metro area.
You can use your MCPL Access Pass (library card) to check out a kit for 28 days. Return the kit to any MCPL branch, and a Midwest Genealogy Center staff member will process the recording, and send you a copy on cd in the mail for free! With permission, all recordings are posted on the MGC website. Find out more.
