Help support the Rose River Memorial project by creating felt roses. Each rose represents a person in Missouri that has died from COVID. Over 6000 roses will be created and displayed together as a powerful public memorial. Each participant will hand sew 10 roses that will be delivered to Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri to be included in a memorial viewing in St. Louis. There are plans to combine all the state pieces as one large memorial display in Washington DC later in 2021.

Each kit contains 10 precut roses, thread if you are sewing your rose, and a video tutorial to be emailed (1 for sewing roses, 1 for gluing roses).

Providing Hope

 All Levels

Help create sock kits for the winter season to provide a new, dry pair of socks and other essentials to our homeless friends, and learn simple ways to engage the homeless in your community. Participants will be asked to bring 2 items for the kits, and everything else is provided with your class fee. You may either leave your sock kit and ScrapsKC will distribute them to the homeless in downtown KCMO, or we encourage anyone who is comfortable to take their kit with them and hand it out themself. Dry socks are crucial when you live outside, and other essentials included can prevent serious health risks. We'll also repurpose plastic grocery bags for weaving and crocheting into mats for the homeless.

Additional info: Everyone will be required to wear a mask in accordance with KCMO ordinances, and participants will be distanced for safety precautions in regards to COVID-19. This workshop can also be offered virtually.
