Kids know a lot about recycling but do they know how to reuse? Bring your troop and learn the importance of reuse and how girls can impact their community through reuse.  Our ScrapsKC staff will lead the girls in an age appropriate lesson and demonstration on how to reuse a marker for art, education, recreation and giving back to their community. Girls will spend time in our Make and Take space creating from donated materials for creative reuse.

Providing Hope
  All Levels

Does your troop want to help the homeless but you don’t know where to start? Let us help you. We have worked directly with the homeless for over a decade and we’d love educating our community on how the homeless can be helped. During this workshop, girls will learn helpful ways to teach their community about good things to give homeless people, create sock kits and plarn that will then be created into mats.

Troops will be asked to bring 2 items to put into the sock kits.

Feeding the Homeless
 Junior   Cadette   Senior   Ambassador

Girl Scouts 10 and up will make breakfast sandwiches, gather needed supplies and learn the best ways to help the homeless through a car window. The troop will caravan with a ScrapsKC leader to the Central Library and serve breakfast and coffee to the homeless on our streets. After breakfast, our leader spends time with the girls answering questions or listening to their observations.

Troops are asked to bring English muffins, ham, cheese and eggs to make 24 breakfast sandwiches (approx. $15)
