This award-winning museum tells the story of the people of Kansas. See the Santa Fe's oldest surviving locomotive, No. 132, from 1880. A. K. Longren's 1914 version of the plane in which he made the first successful flight of a Kansas-built plane in 1911. Named one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas History.

Rural School Days

Time: Saturdays: 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (4 hour program); 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. (1 hour program)

Step back in time to the early 1900s when you attend the Stach School. Plan your clothing, pack a lunch and walk to the one-room school along a quarter-mile path winding through the Kansas prairie grass. The bell is ringing! Don’t be late! The school ‘marm’ is waiting to start class. Her job is very important and one of the few available to women in rural Kansas.Troop Leaders will find ties to the Journeys: A World of Girls and aMUSE during this program.

4 hour program: Junior Only

1 hour program: Daisy, Brownie and Junior

Two week advance notice minimum. Programs are available on a first-come first-served basis so register early.

Cost Per Girl: $6 (4 hour program); $3 (1 hour program) 
Cost Per Adult: N/A

Registration Requirements:  All girls participating as a Girl Scout in this activity must be registered Girl Scout members. If attending as a troop, all volunteers also need to be registered members and/or have completed and approved background checks. If non-registered individuals (adults or tags) are allowed to participate in this activity supplemental insurance is required. Use the Insurance Purchase Form to purchase insurance at least 3 weeks prior to the event. Completed forms can be emailed to programapprovals@gsksmo.org.
