Exact dates TBD; one event in October, one event in April

Location: Kansas State University’s Physical Activity & Nutrition Clinical Research Consortium Lafene Student Health Center 1105 Sunset Ave. Manhattan, KS 66502

Our GS Wellness team works with Girl Scouts troop leaders to set and work towards achieving wellness goals in five categories of health promotion. The categories our wellness team identified are: 1) increasing physical activity during troop meetings; 2) limiting the amount of time spent sitting; 3) offering more fruits and vegetables as snack options; 4) having water available as a beverage during meetings; and 5) promoting non-digital connections among the girls. For the fall and spring Troop Leader Training program, we will be offering a training on how to set goals for the five categories of wellness, discuss why the goals are important for young girls, as well as give examples on how to implement the goals into troop meetings. After the training session is delivered, leaders will get a chance to learn a few physical activity games to use at their meetings, and have time to create some fun, and healthy snacks!
