Event Description
Put on your sleuthing shoes, Swifties, because we're analyzing
the layers and language of some of Taylor's biggest hits and fan
favorites. After we play literary detective, we'll use one of Tay's
songs to inspire our own writing. Hey, Cadettes! Try The Word Shop on
for size with a session of one of our favorite classes, Swiftie
Stories, which is about the figurative language and stories of one of
the greatest wordsmiths of all time. We’ll listen to music, pick apart
the lyrics like literary detectives, and then write a story or poem
inspired by our favorite song(s). No need to be nervous —
everything’ll be all right if we can write with you. **Skills we’re
secretly covering: literary analysis, making inferences, citing
textual evidence, summarizing, analyzing the development of theme over
the course of a text, determining figurative and connotative meanings
of language, understanding meaning and tone, analyzing how authors
create mood, writing creative fiction.*
