Known across the Midwest as the best spot for outdoor rock climbing, this weekend is sure to improve your climbing skills. Saturday will be filled with an expertly guided rock-climbing session and if time allows some light hiking. The group will spend both Friday and Saturday night camping at a campground with access to modern bathrooms. Previous indoor climbing experience is recommended. Price includes expert rock-climbing guides on location, rock climbing gear, shuttle van transportation, and all meals. A confirmation email will be sent out the Monday after registration is closed. We will meet at Camp Prairie Schooner on Friday morning at 9am and Council will transport the girls down to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch.

FAQ 

Q: My girl has never climbed or camped before. Can she still attend? 

A: Yes! HCR offers over 300 sport climbing routes, catering to all skill levels—from beginners to seasoned climbers. With expert guides leading the way, this immersive experience allows girls to test their limits and embrace challenge of choice. 

Q: My Girl Scout already completed her Outdoor Journey. Can she still attend? 

A: Absolutely! While badge work will be integrated into the trip, it is not a requirement to complete. 

Q: Do parents need to provide a tent or other gear? 

A: Council provides tents for participants. We encourage girls to share tents whenever possible. All climbing gear is provided. Gear needed will include typical camping items and a full list will be provided in the confirmation once registration is closed. Gear can be provided upon request—please reach out for more information. 

Q: Will girls have access to restrooms? 

A: Yes, restrooms will be available near the campsite. While climbing, girls should bring a sanitation kit for convenience. Optional showers are also available for purchase; tokens cost $3 for 6 minutes 

Q: Do parents need to attend? 

A: No. This is a Council led trip for Girl Members only. Council ensures ratio with highly trained and vetted staff and volunteers. 

Q: Do Girls need to provide food? 

A: No, all healthy meals and snacks are provided. Parents can note any dietary restrictions or allergies on the Health Form to accommodate specific needs. If your Girl Scout would like to bring extra healthy snacks she is welcome to - please do not bring anything with peanuts, tree nuts, heavy gluten, or high sugar items. 

Q: Do Girls need to provide money? 

A: Bringing money is optional. If your Girl would like to purchase a shower ($3 for 6 minutes), gas station drinks, or souvenirs, that will be covered by you.
