Join one of our pre-scheduled Adventure Programs or schedule a custom experience for your troop—there's an adventure waiting for every Girl Scout.

Outdoor (Adventure Activities)

Archery

Bullseyes aren't the only thing girls will hit. Through archery, Girl Scouts build real-world confidence as they learn proper technique, practice focus and perseverance, and celebrate every shot. Whether they're trying archery for the first time or refining their aim, this program offers a fun challenge for every skill level.

Brownie-Ambassador

Whether they're picking up a bow for the first time or building on existing skills, girls will learn proper archery techniques and practice shooting at traditional targets. Along the way, they'll develop focus, patience, and confidence with every shot.

Junior-Ambassador

Ready to level up? Girls will refine their archery skills as they take aim at lifelike, three-dimensional targets of varying sizes. This challenging experience builds precision, focus, and perseverance while adding a new twist to traditional target shooting.

Double the challenge, double the fun! Girls will experience two exciting target sports in one session as they learn the fundamentals of both archery and tomahawk throwing. They'll build focus, coordination, and confidence while safely trying two unique outdoor activities.

Aquatics

Make a splash at Camp Prairie Schooner's Aquatics Center! Troops can enjoy an afternoon of open swim in our pool, cool off on the splash pad, and tackle the rock wall—all within one safe, gated facility. It's the perfect way to beat the heat, stay active, and make memories together.

What to Know

Sessions are open swim for all participants.
No swim test is required.
US Coast Guard-approved life jackets are available to borrow, or girls may bring their own.
Troops must provide one designated pool watcher for every 10 girls.

Canoeing

Set out on the water and discover the fun of canoeing at Camp Tongawood! As girls explore the camp's scenic pond, they'll learn the fundamentals of paddling, boat control, and waterfront safety while building teamwork and confidence on the water. They'll also practice what to do in an emergency, helping them become safe and responsible paddlers.

What to Know

Maximum of three riders per canoe.
Up to six canoes may be on the pond at one time.
Daisy troops must have one adult rider in each canoe.

Climbing

Reach new heights at Camp Prairie Schooner's 40-foot climbing tower! Girls will learn the fundamentals of climbing, including proper equipment, technique, and safety, before challenging themselves on the tower. Every climb encourages problem-solving, perseverance, and the confidence that comes from achieving a goal.

How high can your team go? Working together, girls will stack crates higher and higher while one teammate climbs to the top. Success depends on communication, trust, and teamwork as everyone plays an important role in reaching new heights. It's a fun, exciting challenge that encourages leadership, problem-solving, and perseverance.

Designed just for Daisies, this beginner-friendly climbing experience introduces girls to climbing holds, techniques, and safety equipment on a 10-foot climbing wall at either of our camp properties. As they tackle fun challenges and find their way across the wall, girls will build coordination, problem-solving skills, and confidence with every climb.

Hit the mark! Girls will discover the exciting challenge of knife throwing as they learn proper stance, throwing techniques, and range safety from trained instructors. With every throw, they'll sharpen their focus, refine their precision, and build perseverance as they work toward sticking the perfect throw.

Low Ropes

Success starts with teamwork! Through a series of interactive challenges at Camp Prairie Schooner's Low Ropes Course, girls will strengthen their collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills while encouraging one another to overcome obstacles. Every activity is designed to build trust, leadership, and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment.

What to Know

A minimum of eight girls is required for this program.
Adventure staff will select activities based on your troop's age, skill level, and group dynamic.

Take the leap! Girls will learn the fundamentals of rappelling, including equipment, safety, and proper techniques, before making their descent from Camp Prairie Schooner's 40-foot tower. As they step outside their comfort zones, they'll discover that courage isn't about not being afraid—it's about trying something new.

Ready, aim, fire! Girls will learn range safety and the fundamentals of slingshot shooting before putting their skills to the test on a variety of fun targets—including musical targets that ring out with different sounds when hit. This exciting activity encourages focus, coordination, and precision while adding a playful twist to target sports.

Through interactive games and group challenges, girls will strengthen their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills while building trust and getting to know one another. Take your best shot! Girls will learn proper tomahawk throwing techniques, stance, and range safety before challenging themselves to hit the target. This unique outdoor activity develops focus, coordination, and determination while introducing girls to a classic camp skill.

Ziplining
