Discover the world of skilled trades at the 4th Annual Power Up: Girl Scouts Learn the Skilled Trades with MCC ATSI! In just two action-packed days, girls will get hands-on in construction, welding, machining, automotive, HVAC, and industrial technology—exploring exciting, high-demand careers and experiences in a fun, age-appropriate way. We’re excited to share that we’re expanding camp even more! This program is now open to both Girl Scout members and non-members—welcoming even more campers to join the fun.
Campers will build their own birdhouse, weld yard flowers, and dive into electricity and hydraulics with DC motor and tubing kits.
Open to rising 7th–10th graders, this one-of-a-kind minicamp is the perfect chance to bring a friend, try something new, and make something amazing. Girls will build skills, spark creativity, and create fun memories they’ll be excited to share when they head back to school this fall!
Event Details
- Location: MCC Penn Valley -Advanced Technical Skills Institute 2944 Troost Ave. Kansas City, MO 64109
- Supervision: This is a drop-off event. Troop leaders and parents are not required to stay.
- Tagalongs: No, tagalongs (siblings) are not allowed.
- Any Forms Required: Yes; please sign the MCC Waiver
- Cost: $50 per girl, MCC Patch + STEM Career Exploration and Woodworker Badges
- (Girl Scout Members will receive the Girl Scout STEM Career + Woodworker Badge)
- Registration Deadline: 7/5/26
What to Expect/Additional Information
- Monday and Tuesday are from 9 am-2:30 pm. However, there is a Celebration Ceremony on July 14th, the final day of camp.
- July 14th, 3 - 4 pm is the Celebration Ceremony. Parents & Guardians are strongly encouraged to attend this end-of-week celebration for camp attendees, where we will recognize the girls for their hard work and projects. Light refreshments will be provided.
- MCC Patches and MCC Trades Camp T-shirts are also included!
What to Wear & Bring
- Specific information about what to wear will be sent the week prior.
- Snacks and lunch are provided. If there are dietary restrictions, have girls bring their own lunch and snacks.
