Community service is in our DNA. Whether it's cleaning up at camp, supporting a food pantry, or leading a badge workshop, Girl Scouts take action to improve the world around them. Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts can earn both the Community Service Bar and the Service to Girl Scouting Bar at each program level.
Community Service Bar (Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors)
Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors can earn Community Service Bars. This bar recognizes at least 20 hours of service to an organization outside of Girl Scouting. All 20 hours should be with the same organization.
Service to Girl Scouting Bar (Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors)
The Service to Girl Scouting Bar is earned by volunteering at least 20 hours within the Girl Scout organization. Girls can volunteer at their local Day Camp, help with a council or service unit event for younger girls, help clean up at camp, or create your own way to serve. Check out our council’s Girl Scouts C.A.R.E. and Teen Leadership Circle opportunities for ways to earn hours towards this award.
