Event Description:
Learn to skate like a Roller Derby Skater!! Ad Astra Junior Roller Derby invites ALL levels of Girl Scouts, no skating experience necessary!! In addition to our workshop, we are offering a FREE game & Open Skate! 9:00am- It's a MASH UP!! Come and watch local teams from near and far get mixed up and put on teams together!! Ice Babies vs Frosty Flakes!! Will the Ice Babies glide past and score?? Or will Frosty Flakes CRUNCH past the pack?? You're invited to watch and cheer on your favorite team! (please bring your camp chair for the best seat in the house) 10:30-11am Snack & drink break 11am-12pm SKATE WORKSHOP It's your turn to put on the skates!!! Learn to skate with professional instructor from Sk8away, Ad Astra Junior Roller Derby Skaters will be assisting the instructors! In addition to skating, you will learn different derby terminology, how to stop, turning, derby drills and if you're up for the challenge...skating backwards!! Safety and FUN is always our priority, we will assist at your pace and get you moving forward!! (skate rental is included in the workshop, or bring your own if you prefer) 12-4pm Sk8away is offering FREE open skate to ALL workshop participants!! Work on the skills you just learned!! *Add $1.00 for an Ad Astra Roller Derby Patch Ad Astra Junior Roller Derby is always welcoming new players age 7-17, we are a co-ed team! Your first 4 practices are FREE (free loaner gear too!) We would love to have you join us.
Attendee Cost:
$10 per person, all ages – add $1 for the Ad Astra patch (you will register but pay at the door when you arrive)
